Protest at SMGS Hospital over dead foetus

JAMMU, Nov 22: The irate family members and relatives of a woman hailing from Gharota today held a protest demonstration at Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital demanding immediate arrest of the accused, who had thrashed the pregnant woman few days back, resulting into death of her foetus.
Infuriated over the incident, the family members and relatives of a woman Saleema Bibi, wife of Yateem Ali, a resident of Nagata in Gharota today staged a protest demonstration at SMGS Hospital demanding immediate arrest of the accused person who allegedly assaulted the victim few days back over some tiff.
The protestors alleged that the accused Abdul Gani attacked the pregnant woman few days back at her residence over some tiff, which has resulted into death of the baby in the womb.
“We have lodged a complaint with the Gharota police but the police has failed to arrest the accused, who was still at large”, they added.
Later, on the assurance by the senior police officials of action under law against the accused, the protesters dispersed.
As per sources a pregnant lady identified as Saleema Bibi, wife of Yateem Ali, a resident of Nagata in Gharota area was admitted at SMGS Hospital when she developed complications after being allegedly assaulted by Abdul Gani following a dispute recently.
“Gani had thrashed the woman due to which her condition became serious and she was rushed to SMGS Hospital with eight month’s pregnancy”, sources added.
“At SMGS Hospital, the woman delivered a dead baby,” sources said, adding that on hearing the news family was shocked, and held protest demanding immediate arrest of the accused Abdul Gani.
However, when contacted SHO Gharota Jatinder Samyal said that an assault case against the accused stands registered and raids were being conducted to arrest him.
