RAJOURI, Aug 17: The people from Sunderbani and adjoining areas today held protest demonstration and blocked  Jammu-Rajouri highway at Sunderbandi town  for over two hours.
The people including large number of parents of the students studying in local Kalidhar Army School  assembled  at   the highway at around 11.30 am  and started protest , after they were not allowed to move inside the Army gate and school by the Army authorities to discuss  the matter with Principal.   They alleged that by an abrupt order, the chairman of the School (DyGOC) and Principal, refused  to pick up and drop civilian children coming to schools from adjoining villages  and Sunderbani town by an Army vehicle. They alleged that Principal / Chairman of the school have taken this decision mid-session and even did not issue prior notice.  When they wanted to talk to the authorities, the Army personnel restricted their entry to the school.  They said they were paying for ferrying children to the School and for return journey,  to authorities every month along with school fee.
The people including women raised barricades on the road  and sat on dharna. They stopped movement of all type of vehicles for more than two hours from 11.30 onwards. They were shouting slogans against the school authorities and DyGOC.
Later, Tehsildar Sunderbani reached there and he assured the people to take up the issue with the School authorities. The people then lifted dharna on the road.
