Protest against water scarcity, residents block road

POONCH, Nov 27 : Residents of Batalkote village in Poonch blocked the Batalkote-Loran road to protest against the non-availability of potable water supply in the area for over a month.
The protesters including women alleged that the negligence of the authorities forced them to come on roads.
“The water supply pipeline is damaged for a month now and the officials are yet to repair the line, leaving this area without drinking water for over a month. We visited every concerned official of the Public Health Engineering but no one is taking the matter seriously, ” they said.
Villagers blocked road, stalling traffic for hours and raised slogans against the PHE Department and local administration for inaction. Public is suffering due to lack of regular supply of drinking water.
Naib Tehsildar and Station House Officer, Loran reached on spot and pacified the people, assuring immediate redressal of people’s problem. Then they stalled the protest.
