R.S PURA, Feb 27: Kissan leader, Ch. Mohan Singh accompanied by Bachan Singh, Chamail Singh, S. Mool Singh, Ashok Kumar Sharma and others here today staged a protest demonstration against J&K Government for levying Property Tax in the UT.
Addressing protesters Ch. Mohan Singh said that such decisions should have been left to an elected government rather than by the L-G administration.
“We have suffered back-to-back crises in J&K. Not only people feel insecure here but economically, the poor are crushed with soaring electricity bills, water charges and now Property Tax,” he said adding: “Forcible imposition of taxes on people amid dwindling economic opportunities is not at all a good idea.”
“The levying of Property Tax on our people who are unable to run their homes due to the high rate of inflation, unemployment and zero business activity is the BJP-led Centre’s Amrit Kaal and LG administration’s Naya Jammu Kashmir,” Singh claimed.
