MENDHAR, Apr 1: Irate public held strong protest demonstraton against PDD and blocked Mendhar-Surankote road for about two hours today.
People from Fambra Nad area assembled on the road at Gurasi and staged dharna. They blocked road and started protest demonstration against PDD. The people alleged that electric transformer which went out of order about four months back has not been repaired or replaced and the public was suffering for want of power supply. They alleged that despite this PDD men continued to deliver power bills to them which is great injustice. No meters have been installed and they are charging flat rates.
They said that no bills will be paid as there was no electricity for the last four months. Later Prob DSP Mohd Altaf, SHO Gursai went there and assured the people to take up their issue with the concerned officers. The people then lifted dharna.
Meanwhile, there was no power at Narkote Mohalla in Kandi Galuta and Sakhi Maidan village for the last one month, as the transformers which are lying out of order could not be replaced even after passage of one month by the concerned PDD staff.
