JAMMU, May 10: Denouncing the new recruitment Policy of Government, the members of All India Confederation of SC/ST/ OBC Organizations joined by various religious, political and social organizations staged a protest here today at Press Club Jammu.
The leaders of confederation termed this move of State Govt as an attempt to deprive scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, backward and other reserved classes of their constitutionally guaranteed right of reservation in employment.
Addressing the protestors, RK Kalostra, State President of the Confederation impressed upon Government to either roll back from the new recruitment policy or implement the provisions of SC/ST/OBC reservation therein, otherwise the confederation will take this to the street and launch statewide agitation.
He cautioned the Government to take it seriously as the agitation against this policy has been gaining momentum and within no time this would reach the tehsil and village level all over the State.
Kalsotra cautioned the community Ministers and Legislators to respect the concerns and rights of their communities by virtues of which they gained dignified positions in the Government. He called upon them to immediately convince the Chief Minister about the plight of SC, ST and OBCs.
Zabeer Ahmed Bajjar, while speaking said that the Government should not let down SCs, STs and OBCs as they deserve better deal just because they are neglected in all fronts.
He cautioned the Government to revisit the new recruitment policy to protect and safeguard their interests otherwise these communities will be forced to adopt agitational path.
Among others who spoke were Prof Kali Dass, general secretary, All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU), Sham Lal Basson, President, Dalit Chetena Manch, Vineet Bhagat, a student leader, Romesh Sarmal, Har Dutt Saryara, Sunil Takyal, Captain Fateh Chand, Nizam Din, Sandokh Chand, Dr. Majid, Dr Vijay, Narender Bhagat, Romesh Bitty, Imran Choudhary, Rakesh Meenia and Vijay Mangotra.
