Protest against GREF for worst condition of Thanamandi road

RAJOURI, July 21: The people from Thanamandi town held strong protest against the GREF (BRO) authorities for worst condition of Rajouri-Thanamandi road and also raised loud slogans against BRO, Governor’s Administration and DC Rajouri today.
The people of the town, assisted by Beopar Mandal members assembled at Gazali Chowk (Shahdara Road) at Thanamandi at around 10 am and started protest demonstration. They were demanding repair of 22 kms long Rajouri-Thanamandi Road. They raised loud slogans against Governor’s Administration, District Administration Rajouri and GREF/ BRO authorities.
The protesting people also blocked road for about an hour and staged dharna. They alleged that condition of the road has turned worst but the concerned agency has turned blind eye towards its repair and upgradation since long. They said the road has turned accident prone and Administration has also shut its eyes over the public plight. They invited the attention of State Governor towards this issue. Later, with the intervention of DySP, SHO and Tehsildar Thanamandi, the road was cleared.
