Protest against charging of registration fee from Amarnath pilgrims

JAMMU, Apr 15: Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K unit here today staged a protest demonstration against the continuation of charging of registration fee from Amarnath pilgrims.
The protest was led by Shiv Sena J&K chief, Manish Sahni and the protesters displayed placards with slogans like ‘Shri Amarnath Yatra registration should be free’ written on them.
Addressing the protesters Sahni said that stubborn attitude of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board regarding charging of registration fee from the pilgrims is condemnable.
He said that he fought a long battle to make the pilgrimage registration free in 2023.
The Shiv Sena leader claimed that Shri Amarnath Shrine Board has given some relief and reduced the online registration fee from Rs. 200 to 150 in 2024 but it should be made completely free.
He said that on the other hand, registration for the world famous Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Yatra is completely free.
Sahni urged upon the Lieutenant Governor of J&K who is also Chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board to intervene into this matter.
Shiv Sena general secretary, Vikas Bakshi; vice president, Sanjeev Kohli; Balwant Singh, president Kamghar; Raj Singh, Pawan Singh, Naresh Kumar, Vijay Chowdhury, Baba, Rajesh Handa and others were also present in the protest.
