Proprietor Palm Island Jammu arrested

JAMMU, June 14: Proprietor of Palm Island Jammu Amar Nath Choudhary has been arrested by Jammu Police in a recovery case.
As per official sources, Amar Nath Choudhary has been arrested from Akhnoor Road area near canal on orders of Divisional Commissioner Jammu as he is a repeated and wilful defaulter, who failed to deposit the outstanding electricity dues of Palm Island Mall worth Rs 1.2 plus crores within the stipulated period.
Sources informed that a Writ of Demand notice was issued against Amar Nath Choudhary under provision of Section 62 of Land Revenue Act by the Special Tehsildar Recovery after they received a representation from the office of the Executive Engineer Electric Division-I, JPDCL, Jammu vide no.ED-1/1857-61 dated 30.05.2022 who had requested the Collector (Deputy Commissioner), Jammu to recover the amount of Rs 1,24,02,102 against recovery of electricity dues as arrears under the Land Revenue Act, 1996.
“It is pertinent to mention that he is a notorious land grabber who has been in and out of jail multiple times and has numerous pending cases against him in various courts of J&K and outside. He was previously arrested by the Crime Branch on charges of fraud with investors and developers of Palm Island Mall in 2016”, sources said.
Choudhary was shifted to Police Post Talab Tillo and later produced before Magistrate, who released him after necessary action under law, sources asserted.
