The accused has been identified as Mohammad Ashraf Khanday, son of Ghulam Ahmad Khanday, a resident of Nipora, Kulgam.
The action was taken under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act after due legal process, as the properties were found to be proceeds of crime acquired through illicit drug trafficking and were directly linked to drug peddling operations, according to the police.
Police said the accused is also involved in FIR No. 196/2024 under Sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act, registered at the concerned police station.
The market value of the attached property is estimated at approximately Rs 1.5 crore.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulgam, Anayat Ali Choudhary, said police have adopted a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and narcotics-related activities.
He warned that anyone involved in drug peddling, financing, harbouring offenders or creating support networks for narcotics would face strict legal action, including property attachment, financial investigation and prosecution under stringent legal provisions.
“Drug traffickers must understand that illegal wealth will be identified, seized and dismantled, and no one will be spared under the law,” he said.
The SSP appealed to the public to cooperate with police by sharing information to help protect youth and society from the harmful impact of drugs.
