Promoting Ayurved in J&K

Sir,
This has reference to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s remarks on the inaugural function of Arogya Mela regarding UPA-III coming to power after LS elections. This is in keeping with the tradition of ruling class utilizing every opportunity for their political benefit. The Central Govt. by organizing such melas wish to promote Ayurved and other systems under Ayush but the State Govt. is doing precious little to promote Ayurved  as reflected by the poor condition of Ayurvedic dispensaries in respect of building, staff, and supplies where there is great scope of improvement. In fact the poor condition of the dispensaries and irrational supplies make the doctor handicapped in tackling all condition which come to their dispensaries where they happen to be the only health care facility available. The failure of the doctor to provide even symptomatic relief in acute conditions such as dehydration, severe pain, allergic reactions, severe breathlessness, acute infection etc. make the patients lose faith in institution and the doctor. Integration is the only answer and the Govt. should utilize the services of ISM doctors posted in far flung areas to review its policy and let the patients be benefited with the best from both ISM and modern medicines. The Chief Minister and Union Health Minister have themselves acknowledged the effect of ISM to be slow, free from side-effects as encountered with allopathic drugs and curing the disease radically rather than suppressing the disease.
The State Govt. in order to promote Ayush in keeping with the policy of the Central Govt. should make sincere efforts by taking several measures which include making the pharmacy and drug testing laboratory functional at Jammu, the building of which have been constructed long back with the grants from Ayush Deptt but necessary posts have not been sanctioned nor machinery and equipment installed. This would ensure quality medicine supplies to the dispensaries and also will promote plantation of herbs and improving the health and the economic condition of the people and the State.
Yours etc….
