JAMMU, May 2: All Jammu and Kashmir Electric Department Linemen & Workers Union (EDLWU) has urged upon the higher authorities in the Power Development Department (PDD) to promote non-ITI workers of the department.
A meeting of the members of the Union was held under the chairmanship of Suresh Chand Anthal, president of the Union. A large number of members attended the meet.
The members pointed out that those daily wagers or other workers managed ITI trade certificate were accorded promotion while non-ITI remained at the same grade even after 15-20 years of service. They said many of them managed ITI certificate and they never sought permission from the PDD authorities for undergoing any training. How such cases were accorded permissions. They demanded that non-ITI workers should also be provided promotions, otherwise, they will be compelled to launch agitation.
