JAMMU, July 16: The prominent citizens of Jammu in a special meeting held here today appealed for restoration of total peace in Kashmir.
A meeting in this connection was held in the Chamber House, Rail Head Complex today to discuss the situation arising out of ongoing turmoil in the Kashmir valley.
The speakers condemn the meddling of Pakistan in Kashmir and warned it of its consequences. The unrest in Kashmir has to be addressed internally where no outside interference is warranted.
The speakers in the meeting impressed upon Central and the State Governments to take all necessary measures to restore peace and calm in Kashmir valley. Serious concern was expressed on the loss of human lives for the last over ten days and appealed the State and Central Governments to take effective measures so as to restore peace and tranquility in Kashmir.
The speakers noted with concern that there has been some incidents of stone pelting targeting transport vehicles from outside valley which should be stopped immediately. The speakers appeal all the stake holders in Kashmir valley to stop such incidents and help in the smooth and peaceful Amarnath Yatra. Uninterrupted and peaceful Amarnath Yatra would send positive signals from the Kashmir civil society throughout the country.
The speakers declared their resolve to maintain communal harmony in the State at all costs and any attempt to disturb it shall be opposed with full force.
Prominent among those attended the meeting included, Abdul Majid, Krishan Lal Gupta, Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, Gulchain Singh Charak-president DSS, Rakesh Gupta- president CCI, Pavitar Singh, Mohd Ayyub, GA Khajuria, Rajesh Gupta, Rajender Motial, Sham Lal Langer, Arun Gupta, Ashu Gupta, HA Siddiqui, S. Peter, Surinder Mahajan, Pt Rajesh Kesri, Neeraj Anand, Brig MS Jamwal, Col Karan Singh, and Yash Pal Gupta.
