JAMMU, Feb 4: The panel constituted to submit the report in the baby abduction case will submit its report tomorrow with likely recommendations of professional security guards, enhancement of CCTV cameras and Infant Tracking System (ITS).
“The panel constituted by Principal, Government Medical College headed by Reva Gupta, Administrator, Associated Hospital will submit its report on the recent infant’s abduction from Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital tomorrow”, official sources told the Excelsior.
They said that the security enhancement, up-gradation and enhancement of CCTV cameras and Infant Tracking System (ITS) are likely to be recommended in the report.
“Private security personnel are deployed in the hospital and the panel will recommend the professional security guards preferably Ex-servicemen, who work with punctuality and with dedication”, they added.
“Enhancement and up-gradation of CCTV cameras will also be recommended as there are various places inside the institution, where there is dire need of CCTV cameras”, they added.
“For Infant Tracking System (ITS), the hospital authorities had written a letter to the Mechanical Department to submit proposal, but despite lapse of over one month, no proposal had been submitted and now the panel will also recommend it in this report”, sources said.
About the present status of the baby abduction case, which was stolen from the hospital during the intervening night of January 31 and February 1, they said that the from the CCTV footage, three persons including one female and her two male associates were found involved, adding that the footage has been submitted to the Police Department to trace the abductors.
In the CCTV footage, the male associates were seen making way for the lady abductor to take away the child, they said, adding that the face of one of the male abductor has been identified
In addition to CCTV footage, the panel also recorded the statements of the Operation Theatre (OP) staff, which was on the duty during the delivery time and also patients in adjoining wards, they added.
Perturbed over frequent incidents of new born lifting, authorities of Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital had decided to install 16 more CCTV cameras in the institution to maintain hawk’s eye in every nook and corner of the hospital, but no step has been taken till date, showing the apathy of the administration.
When contacted panel head Reva Gupta, Administrator, Associated Hospitals said that the panel will submit the report tomorrow to the Principal with severe recommendation suggested by Medical Superintendent and HoDs.
