Be professional in dealing with NDPS cases: DIG

SAMBA, June 2: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua range Rafiq-Ul-Hassan asked the officers to be professional in dealing NDPS cases to curb crime.
He stated this in a meeting to review the NDPS case of District Samba at DPO here today.
The meeting was attended by Anil Magotra, SSP Samba, Raja Adil Hamid, Additional SP Samba, Subash Sharma, DDP RPHQ Jammu, Deepak Digra, DySP Headquarters Samba, Baljit Singh, SDPO Vijaypur, Ashwani Kumar, Sr PO, Incharge CPO Court Samba besides all SHOs and IOs of NDPS cases of the District.
DIG briefed and made aware about the growing menace of drug peddling which is spoiling the future of young generation. He laid stress to be professional in dealing NDPS cases so as to curb this crime.
He also directed the officers to implement the SOPs/guidelines issued by the Home Department as well as PHQ J&K from time to time for achieving better results and to ensure maximum convictions in NDPS cases.
During the meeting, 29 under investigation and 147 undertrial NDPS cases were discussed threadbare and necessary directions were issued to all concerned to make sincere efforts in ensuring quality disposal of these cases.
Explicit directions were issued to all the IOs to ensure adherence of proper procedure while affecting the recovery and registration of cases thereof. It was also stressed upon Sr PO to issue proper guidelines to be followed by the concerned IO of the NDPS case right from the date of registration of the cases till its production in the court of law for legal adjudication, which would not only bring up professional competence among the IOs but will also boost the conviction rate of the said crime.
It was also stressed to process the cases for detention of the accused involved in the repeated incidents of drug peddling under PSA so that effective deterrence is created among the law breakers.
