JAMMU, Feb 13: Professor Akbar Masood has been appointed as Vice Chancellor (VC) of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) by J&K LG Manoj Sinha, who is also Chancellor of the University.
Prof Masood will hold the post for a period of three years from the date he takes over the charge, read an order issued by Chancellor of BGSBU. Presently, he is Head, Department of Biochemistry, Dean School of Unani and Ayurvedic Medicines in University of Kashmir, Srinagar.
He belongs to Etah district of Uttar Pradesh. After completing his BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Aligarh in the year 1978, he did MSc, MPhil and PhD in Biochemistry from AMU and was appointed as Professor in the year 2003. Prof Masood has a vast teaching and administrative experience. He has in his name more than 225 journals of national and international repute.
