JAMMU, Jan 31: Under popular lecture series, Department of Physics and Astronomical Sciences, Central University of Jammu organised a lecture on the topic “Nuclear Reaction at Different Energy: from the Early Universe to Nuclear Energy”.
The lecture was delivered by Prof Christoph Hartnack from University of Nantes, France. In his lecture, he talked about the evolution of the Universe, the synthesis of heavy elements as the time progressed after the big bang and as the technology developed for harnessing nuclear energy from the fissile materials on this planet.
Prof C Hartnack also interacted with the students and faculty of the department. Further, he interacted with the Vice chancellor, Prof Ashok Aima and discussed future collaborations that university can have with his institution in future.
Dr Vinay Kumar, Head of the Department, briefed about the activities and highlights of the departments. Dr Suram Singh presents the formal vote of thanks.
Prof Hartnack was accompanied by Prof Arun Bharti, Head of the Nuclear Research Group of Physics Department, University of Jammu. Faculty members, Prof S K Khosa, Dr Amit Tomar, Dr Jehova Jire, Dr Atul Yadav were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, students and staff of Government Higher Secondary School Kathera, Kathua, visited Laboratories of the Department of Physics and Astronomical Science, Central University of Jammu. Faculty of the department explained about the working of the various scientific instruments to the students. The visit of the students was under the scheme of SAMAGRA Shiksha Abhiyan and was to promote the awareness of science and scientific methods to the young budding youth.
