Prof Gupta mocks at Farooq’s statements

JAMMU, Aug 13: Mocking at the high sounding statements of the NC leader and former Chief Minister, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, the former Union Minister, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta said that Farooq should not stake his precious life  to defend the controversial provision of 35-A.
In a statement issued here today he said as this was not their baby because Article 35 A was incorporated in the Constitution in 1954, at the behest of then Prime Minster, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru who was pampering the then State Prime Minister, Bakshi Ghulam Mohd and his colleagues as they were feeling uneasy after deposing and jailing Sheikh Mohd Abdullah and his chums in getting them bewildered.
But having their floating a new outfit under the title of Kashmir Plebiscite Front, these strayed politicians had termed 35-A as a sop of little significance.
Prof. Gupta said that to generate heat and try to add fuel to the fire in the troubled Valley by the politicians after being out of power by saying too much about the retaining of 35-A.
About these high sounding statements, Prof. Gupta said the issue is before highest court of the country to determine the validity of the provision but the fiery utterances of the politicians do not look nice, especially from those  who are under oath of the Constitution.
He advised Dr. Farooq that the frequent changing of antics do not behove especially when a person gets elder and is expected to be sober and positive despite the fact that the old habits die hard.
Prof. Gupta regretted that certain politicians were trying to spread communal virus on the issue despite their masquerading as secular but for gaining their lost ground by indulging in controversial rants and threats which ran counter to the national interest though these getting catchy headlines, more so in defining the law.
