JAMMU, Feb 15: Deploring the tendency of eulogizing the terrorists, the former Union Minister, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has expressed surprise over the episode of Jawaharlal Nehru University and stressed for firm handling of the observance of Afzal Guru’s death anniversary in JNU. He said if such, like incidents were not checked in Delhi, then situation would become worse in Kashmir.
Prof. Gupta said the observance of such like happenings to make hero of the terrorist attack at the Parliament, is a matter of great concern. This is an attempt to belittle the judicial system of the country and more so to encourage those who attack the highest temple of democracy viz the Parliament.
He assailed the Congress and its fellow travelers for creating a messy situation in Jammu & Kashmir and observed that they were responsible for sad happenings in this State because of which thousands of people have been killed and large scale destruction has been there during all these years.
Prof. Gupta recalled that the Congress and its allies in the Leftist camp, had been tempering Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah by describing him as biggest symbol of secularism when he was subjecting to the patriotic leaders Pt. Prem Nath Dogra and so many others who were working for demolishing barriers between this State and rest of the country as also seeking restoration of democratic values but these very Congress leaders and the Leftists put the Sheikh was put behind the bars when the situation assumed alarming proportions.
He said it was a strange cronology of events that these very Congress leaders and the leftists became political partners of the same Sheikh and his National Conference ignoring observations of the Sheikh who had been describing the Congressman as insects of dirty lane.
It is highly condemnable the Congress and its alliance have not learnt any lesson from their politics of supporting controversial elements indulging in dubious moves although this has already brought the Congress to a ridicule all over the country, he added.
Prof. Gupta hoped that the authorities would take due note of the anti national activities especially in Delhi which would give a clear message to those in Kashmir and elsewhere, who are trying to make heroes of the ultras and encouraging separatistism in this State.
