Sir,
The article “Proclamation of Independence” by Mujahid I Mughal is appreciated. It is a fact that morality in Kashmir has been buried completely for which religious leaders like Mr. Geelani and his team are mostly responsible. They are running their activities from their “Dewan Khass” with the result poor innocent youth get exploited in such a way that they have lost the judgement of what is right and what is wrong. Most of them have turned Drug-addicts and forgotten the conduct of the society. The drugs are spreading in the society like wild fire. Its supply is mostly from our neighbour country.
I had an occasion to speak in a seminar at Kashmir University in June 2008 on morality. Most of the participants were religious scholars who also confess that drug addiction has involved large number of adolescents and shown great need to check it up.
The responsibility squarely falls on leaders both religious and political who do not want moral education. Unless and until the morality is given place in education right from primary to university level, youth by leaders for their own selfish interests will go on for ever.
Besides the writer of the article in question Mr. Mugal should know that J&K state is not a secular state in action which he has mentioned in his article. The J&K State Constitution does not mention a word about secularism. Kashmiri Hindus were made to leave the valley by our brethren having common roots and not by a few militants alone. I pray that good sense prevail on the leaders to spare youth from their programmes and instead ensure complete check up on drug addiction.
Yours etc…..
