RAJOURI, May 8: Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri Vikas Kundal has ordered an inquiry to probe the issuance of disability certificates by two doctors of Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri twice to a CRPF jawan after taking bribe from him.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Rajouri, Pawan Kumar Parihar has been appointed the inquiry officer to probe the matter. The inquiry officer has been asked to submit the report along with his recommendations within seven days.
The DC Rajouri, while issuing the order of inquiry has mentioned that a video went viral on social media wherein a complainant has alleged that two doctors of the Government Medical College , Rajouri have demanded bribe for issuance of disability certificate. In his order he further mentioned that as per the viral video the same set of doctors have taken bribe in the past also for issuance of disability certificates. To ascertain the facts the DC ordered a probe into the matter.
According to sources, two doctors in GMC Rajouri, one Surgeon and another an Orthopedician issued disability certificate twice after taking bribe from a CRPF Jawan. They increased disability percentage not by physical check up but after taking bribe. One CRPF Jawan namely Adalat Hussain who met with an accident in Jammu in 2019 with multiple injuries and fractures had undergone four surgeries till now and is totally bed ridden, sources added.
He applied for disability certificate and the doctors have to check him. After first check up they delayed the report and matter lingered on for one month. He continuously visited Hospital for report but every time they gave him time of two days. After one month when he enquired from them they told him to pay an amount of Rs 40,000 i.e Rs 20,000 to each doctor. He didn’t have enough money but still he managed Rs 8000 which he paid to them and they decreased the percentage Orthopaedic 35% and Surgeries 50% . He wasn’t satisfied with that and he again approached them that what they have done. As he was bed ridden from last three years and undergone multiple fractures he showed them all test and reports but they refused and later he managed Rs 8000 more. After getting total amount of Rs 16,000 they increased the percentage of disability Orthopaedic 55% and Surgeries 60%.
Sources said this isn’t first case but there are hundreds of such cases where they issued disability certificates after taking handsome amount. They are misusing their official position for collecting money from disabled persons and it’s highly shameful act. A person who is under treatment in AIIMS from last three years is forced to pay brine for increasing percentage. They have issued him certificate twice and copy of both is available. He appealed to the LG JKUT, Chief Secretary, Commissioner/Secretary, Health Department, Director Health Services Jammu and DC Rajouri to take strict action against them for doing all this and collecting money by misusing their official position.
People have demanded that all the disability certificates issued by them must be cross checked and both of them must be given exemplary punishment so that no one in future will do this type of act again.
