JAMMU, Mar 1: Contractors’ Union from Block Harman of Shopian district has claimed that no money was released to them in the second instalment for their block during the year 2023-24 for the works executed under MGNREGA.
In a press conference here today these contractors informed that they raised the issue with the concerned officers and got assurances that the money shall be released to them in next instalment.
They claimed that the Commissioner Secretary, Mandeep Kour also assured them in this regard.
“Now that the third instalment of Rs. 1 crore and 84 lakh has been released but our block only got Rs. 14 lakh while the other block got Rs. 70 lakh and one more block got Rs. 1 crore,” they said adding that the issue was raised before the officers concerned but no satisfactor answer was given.
The Contractors urged the LG to intervene and order a probe into this to punish the guilty.
