Pro-people policies brought State on track of peace, prosperity: Shabir

SRINAGAR, June 5: Reiterating the commitment of the Government  to ensure holistic development of all the regions of the State with special focus on border and hilly areas, the Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan today said the Governments pro-people policies and exemplary initiatives have brought the State on the track of peace and prosperity. He affirmed that this tempo would be carried forward with a mission to ensure all-round development of rural as well as border people.
Addressing public meetings today at Nerojal, Dehri-Ralyote and Gulhuddi in Rajouri, the  Minister said that people friendly initiatives taken by the Government during the last over four years towards bringing accountability and transparency in the administration is worth appreciating. He said holding of Panchayat elections, enactment of Right to Information Act and Public Service Guarantee Act are the landmark steps  in improving governance structure in the state.
The Minister said that people pinned their hopes with public representatives and asked the Panchs and Sarpanchs to work sincerely for welfare and development of the people.
Referring to the development of block Manjakot, the Minister said that Rs. 4 crore is being expended for upgradation of basic facilities in the block during current year under MGNREGA. He said under BADP Rs 1.02 crore would be spent on various developmental works in the area. He said Rs 20 lakh would be expended for completion of ISM hospital building at Dehri-ralyote this financial year adding that due consideration would be given to upgrade the health care facilities in remote and hilly terrain villages of the district.
The Minister said that to provide health insurance cover to BPL families 10 districts of the State are being brought under Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna (RSBY), adding that Srinagar and Jammu districts were already covered under this Scheme.
He said to strengthen the patient transportation facility, the purchase of 200 ambulances is in process. He said several steps have been taken to reverse the trend of declining sex ratio and Health Department has dedicated year 2013 to “save the girl child”.
