Priya Sethi takes up people issues with JMC Commissioner

JAMMU, Feb 27: A deputation of Social Organization and Mohalla Welfare Committees of Old City under the leadership of Priya Sethi, former Minister for Education, Information and Culture met Jammu Municipal Commissioner, Mandeep Kour. Joint Commissioner (Adm), RS Jamwal was also present in the meeting.
During the meeting various issues, demands and problems being faced by inhabitants of the old city related to sanitation, ongoing constructions,  desilting of lanes/nallahs, proper functioning of street lights and other allied works of old city, Jammu was discussed in detailed.
Municipal Commissioner gave patient hearing to all the demands and issues which were put forth by the deputation.
Commissioner explained to them that JMC is going to conduct massive sanitation drive in the month of March, 2016 to provide clean environment to the citizens of Jammu city.
She assured them that Talat Mehmood Kahan, Chief Transport Officer, JMC has been directed to keep men and machinery ready for clearance of nallahs/drains before forthcoming rainy season and have proper vigil on day to day basis on nallahs which get overflowed and become problem for adjoining inhabitants and pedestrians in rainy season.
Later, the deputation raised the issue of dog menace in the areas of Old City, to which Joint Commissioner (Adm) informed them that JMC in-coordination with some NGOs and Animal Board has undertaken various projects to control the dog menace in the Jammu city.
