JAMMU Oct 29: Bhavishya Academy, under the visionary guidance of Parul Bhateja, a devoted disciple of Pt. Jai Kishan Maharaj left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape with its enchanting event, “Kala Darpan 2023: An ode to Lord Krishna.” This remarkable celebration of Kathak dance and classical music took place at the esteemed Pracheen Kala Kendra in Jammu.
The grandeur of “Kala Darpan 2023” was elevated by the presence of Priya Sethi, senior BJP leader and former Minister, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. The event was further adorned by the esteemed presence of Sheetal Nanda, Commissioner Secretary of the Social Welfare Department in the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, who played the role of the guest of honour. Special guests included Sunaina Mehta, Joint Director of Tourism, and Vandana Jasrotia, Head Master of Heritage School. The event commenced with a ceremonious inauguration led by Charu Bhateja.
Under the leadership of Parul Bhateja, Director of Bhavishya Academy, the Kathak dance spectacle unfolded its splendor. Parul Bhateja’s ensemble featured accomplished musicians, including Suraj Singh, an acclaimed Ghazal artist, and Amit Anand, a Tabla virtuoso holding a Masters degree in Tabla from GNDU University in Amritsar.
In her address, Priya Sethi emphasized the pressing need to preserve and propagate our rich cultural heritage. She lauded Bhavishya Academy, an esteemed institution dedicated to Classical Dance, for orchestrating this monumental Kathak event. She articulated, “Dance and music transcend the confines of borders, binding people together in a unique harmony that fosters a society free from tension and animosity. Music knows no boundaries; it touches the soul and creates an atmosphere of serenity. The success of artists is mirrored in the profound serenity that resonates within the audience.”
Priya Sethi highlighted the pivotal role that music and dance play in the preservation of culture and expressed her hope that young artists would receive the recognition and encouragement they rightfully deserve in their pursuits. She also aspired that these talented artists would find ample opportunities to showcase their abilities on a broader canvas.
