JAMMU, June 18: A meeting of private schools of Jammu district was organized by Deepak Handa, President, Jammu (Urban) under the chairmanship of Kamal Gupta, State president of Private Schools Association, for highlighting grievances of the private schools.
The participants demanded a way out to overcome the financial deficit /shortfall due to non collection of tuition fee in the low budget private schools as most of the parents are reluctant to pay fee for the lockdown period.
In the reply to all the queries raised by the members of schools functioning in the rural and semi urban areas, General Secretary of the Central body of JKPSA, Ajay Gupta said that most of the parents who are financially sound and are able to pay the monthly fee, have manipulated the sub-section (d) of section (3) of circular No: 1 Edu of 2020 dated 14.05.2020, issued by the Government regarding charging of tuition fee during COVID – 19 lockdown period. To dilute crisis of non collection of tuition fee, a request has already been sent to Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Principal Secretary to the Government, School Education Department and to Anuradha Gupta, Director School Education Jammu for issuing time bound Advisory for the parents to deposit monthly fee in the private schools as non collection of fee since long has become a big challenge for those who are solely dependent on this venture but response is still awaited, he added.
President of the Association, Kamal Gupta also demanded immediate withdrawal of the circular issued by the JKBOSE on 11-06-2020 for the annual inspection of Private schools of Jammu division which are granted affiliation/ recognition for five years i.e. till ending March 2022. He also appealed to the Government to intervene as annual inspection of private schools have no relevance and will promote only ‘Inspector Raj’, as affiliation/ recognition for five years are only granted after scrutinizing all the relevant documents by the ‘Affiliation Committee’ of the JKBOSE.
