JAMMU, July 28: Alleging harassment of students by a few schools, which are demanding exorbitant fee without approval from the J&K Fee Fixation Committee, Private Schools Parents Association has appealed Governor and his Advisor to ensure action against such erring school.
Addressing a press briefing here today, president of the Parents Association, Amit Kapoor also accused the Directorate of School Education as well as the Fee Fixation Committee of adopting double standards in getting their own orders not implemented and thus allowing selected private schools to charge exorbitant fees.
“This burning issue, which the Government agencies and departments are expected to settle immediately, is left to the parents to agitate and settled themselves, which reflects the non-seriousness of the concerned department,” he said and appealed to Governor Satya Pal Malik and Advisor Farooq Ahmed Khan to look into the grievances of the parents with strict directions to the concerned functionaries of the State to check the lawbreakers in the private schools.
In response to the query that Supreme Court of India has stayed the J&K High Court order dated 18.03.2019, the Association clarified that this temporary stay order was only on the refund of the money and it has nothing to do with the mandatory approval required from the FFC.
“Approval of the fee structure has to be mandatorily obtained by the private schools and the parents are legally allowed not to pay any fee to the schools till the FFC approval. Parents need to ask the schools to issue a circular signed by the Principal declaring therein that they have obtained the approval of the FFC. In case any school hesitates in issuing a circular in this regard, it would prove that they have not obtained any such approval,” explained the Association leaders.
Stating that only a few private schools were violating the Govt orders and misleading the parents, the Association said that MHAC School Nagbani Jammu was pretending a letter of the FFC as approval obtained for enhanced fee whereas Director School, Education Jammu in its Notice dated 07.05.2019 to the schools makes it clear that this Nagbani school is violating orders of the FFC.
