NEW DELHI, Aug 29:
President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today hosted several children and women by sharing with them the beautiful sentiments associated with the festival of Rakshabandhan.
The festival is celebrated across the country with traditional enthusiasm and gaiety.
Giving a pause to the political activity, the politicians here showed enthusiasm in celebrating the festival.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, wishing the people on the occasion said he prayed for the safety of all the sisters in the country.
He said he was on way to Haridwar to celebrate the festival with his younger sister.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj also celebrated the festival by tying Rakhi to Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh celebrated the occasion with children at his residence here.
Despite the ongoing agitation for One Rank one Pension (OROP) by ex-servicemen at Jantar Mantar, sisters joined in their fight and tied rakhis on the occasion. (UNI)
