JAMMU, Mar 10: J&K Prisons Retired Employees Welfare Association (PREWA) has urged upon the Government to release 6% DA installment due since July 2015 in respect of State pensioners and employees in cash to relieve them from undue hardships.
In a meeting of the association held here today, president, PREWA, Krishan Singh said that the State employees and pensioners are facing numerous problems because of steep rise in prices of essential commodities of daily consumption but ignoring their hardship, the Government is maintaining silence over release of 6% DA, which is already due since July 2015.
He also criticized the Government for ignoring other demands like enhancement of medical allowance from existing Rs 300 to Rs 1000 and raising pension of State pensioners by 20 to 100% after 80 to 100 years of age on Central Government pattern.
The PREWA president also urged upon DGP Prisons to bring welfare rules for retired and serving prison personnel at par with welfare rules of Police Department, besides convening 3rd annual prison meet soon to give an opportunity to retired prison personnel to bring their problems into the notice of the authorities of the Prison Department for timely and amicable redressal.
