PREWA for revision of welfare fund, medical allowance hike

JAMMU, May 23: The J&K Prisons Retired Employees Welfare Association (PREWA) has demanded revision of welfare fund rules and enhancement of medical allowance.
In a letter addressed to the DGP Prisons,  Dilbagh Singh, the Association has requested for a meeting of PREWA in Jammu soon and laid stress upon convening 4th Annual Prisons meet to offer an opportunity to the retired Prisons personnel to share their grievances with the departmental authorities for speedy redressal.
Krishan Singh,  president of PREWA said that there is a long outstanding demand for constitution of Welfare Board for the retired Prisons personnel as envisaged in the Jail Manual in 2000, the year of its adoption in J&K State, revision of welfare rules for in-service as well as for retired ones as existing rules have become obsolete which do not conform to the present day needs and aspirations of serving & retired prison personnel. He also demanded enhancement of medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month.
