SRINAGAR, Aug 7: In connection with ongoing series of cultural events being held jointly by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Cultural and Languages and the North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, the artist performed a mesmerizing cultural programme at Zabarvan Park, witnessed by a large number of audience including tourists and local people.
On the occasion, Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla, was the chief guest.
Noted Kashmiri artist Qazi Rafi, Magghar Ali and Kowalya Kumar enthralled the audience with their melodious presentations.
The noted Punjabi Sufiana and Urdu Ghazal singer Maggar Ali presented Gazals and Punjabi Sufiana songs while Pt Kavalya Kumar, a leading expert of Kirana Gharana from Dharwad, Karnataka, cast a magic spell with his mesmerizing presentations.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bhalla lauded the role of cultural centre Patiala and the State Cultural Academy in promoting rich cultural heritage of the state, adding “it is the priority of Government to preserve and promote cultural diversity of the state for which it has the distinction in the country being a multicultural entity giving a spectrum of proverbial unity in diversity.”
The Minister stressed upon Centre to sponsor state cultural troupes to perform outside the State to showcase the rich cultural diversity of the state to the people of the country. He assured full cooperation and assistance from the state government in their efforts in promoting rich culture of the state.
