JAMMU, Dec 24 :All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) today stressed upon the Government of India to prepare a blue print for comprehensive resettlement and rehabilitation of KPs in Kashmir.
This issue among others came up for discussion during annual general meeting of AIKS held here today. The meeting was largely attended by representatives from its affiliate organizations from different parts of the Country and prominent local members.
After thorough discussion, the meeting adopted four resolutions. The first resolution adopted by the meeting was that the Government must immediately constitute a Commission of Enquiry headed by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court of India to probe into the circumstances which led to the ethnic cleansing of the entire Kashmiri Pandit community from Kashmir in 1989-90.
The other resolution adopted by the meeting said that Government should prepare a blue print for comprehensive resettlement and rehabilitation of KPs in Kashmir but the blue print must take into account the political and economic aspirations of KP community and address their social and security concerns.
The meeting further resolved that the bill for the management of temples and shrines, which is pending for a long time, needs to be passed urgently in the Legislative Assembly so that the community can manage these assets and exercise control over these.
It was also resolved thorough appraisal and review of PM’s employment Package needs to be undertaken in view of the recent unrest in the Valley.
Addressing the meeting, Vijay Aima, AIKS president, said that in the past 26 years of the exodus of the KP community Government has done precious little for the over-aged youth and appealed the Government to give special relaxation to such youth in PM’s employment package.
