SRINAGAR, May 30: A pregnant woman died along with her baby due to the alleged negligence of doctors at Sub District Hospital (SDH), Chattergam in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district last evening.
Following the death of the woman due to medical negligence, the family members and other locals of the area held protests against the doctors and SDH management and demanded stern punishment to the doctors.
The protesting family members said here that Mehmooda Jan, 30, wife of Tasaduq Hussain of Khanda, Budgam was admitted to SDH Chattergam, after she complained labour pain. The family alleged that doctors admitted her for whole day at SDH, Chattergam and when the condition of patients deteriorated, doctors referred her to Valley’s lone maternity LD Hospital, Srinagar at 9:30 pm, but she died on the way to hospital.
The family and relatives demanded that there should be an independent enquiry into the death of the woman and those found guilty be punished.
