JAMMU, Nov 11: On the eve of National Legal Services Day, Pre Lok Adalat session of bank cases and MACT cases was held in the District Court Complex Janipur under the chairmanship of District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Session Judge, Jammu, Kartar Singh.
Out of a total 140 bank cases, 140 cases were settled on spot by negotiation, conciliation and mediation.
Out of a total 25 MACT cases, 13 cases were settled and an amount of Rs.22,80,000 was awarded as compensation.
The Lok Adalat besides the Judicial Officers was attended by the officers of insurance companies, various banks, advocates and large number of litigants. Awareness programme regarding “Access to Justice” was also held in Railway Colony for below marginalized people.
