JAMMU, Mar 2: In order to review the working of cops in Udhampur, Reasi, Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban, the Director General of Police, (DGP) Ashok Prasad today convened a video conference with the Superintendents of Police of these districts.
During the conference, Mr. Prasad sought first hand report about the overall working of these districts. The concerned Range Deputy Inspectors of Police and Superintendents of Police apprised the DGP and other senior officers present on the occasion about their working in different areas. They also informed about the status of constructions going on in their jurisdictions, land acquisition, stock position of uniforms and weaponry, availability of mobility, present status of personal information data and functioning of CCTVs. Availability and utilization of funds under different heads, deployment of man power, progress in Civic Action Programme (CAP) and working of youth clubs was also discussed during the conference.
Mr. Prasad emphasised upon the officers and executing agencies to complete the ongoing constructions within the time frame and ensure utilization of quality material under their personal supervision. He said that before certifying the completion of works, it should be ensured that all requirements are completed by the concerned agency so that the funds allotted are not misappropriated. Accommodation for the cops including the alternate accommodation with all required facilities and interiors is necessary to provide better living facilities to the personnel for enhancing their capabilities in the field, he added.
The DGP asked the officers to come with concrete proposals with regard to their requirements to strengthen their mobility, uniform stocks, weaponry and communication network. He said that PHQ would consider these requirements on priority to enhance their professionalism in different fields of policing. He said that the police working should be strengthened from grass route level and the officers should ensure accountability at all levels.
The DGP stressed upon the field officers to complete the computerization of personal information of all ranks and furnish the data to PHQ within the stipulated time. He said that strenuous efforts should be made to update the service records of the cops, ensuring submission of annual performance reports and other service matters within a time frame.
While discussing the deployment of manpower, the DGP said that security of protected persons needs to be reviewed after regular intervals at range levels and deployment of manpower should be made to foil the ill designs of criminals and anti social elements. Proper functioning of CCTVs could lead us to check activities of these elements and new locations needs to be identified to install the devices.
Reviewing the progress of Civic Action Programme in these districts, Mr. Prasad reiterated that the purpose of programme is purely to benefit the down trodden and the people living in poor pockets and far-flung areas.
Earlier, the Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters), S. P. Vaid highlighted the importance of such conferences and said that  PHQ has been conducting interaction with field officers with the aim to review the day-to-day activities consuming less time with efficient supervision.
Among others, the conference was attended by IGPs, V. K. Singh, Dilbag Singh, M. Sulaiman Salaria and Alok Puri, AIGPs, Ghulam Hassan Bhat, Ranjit Singh Samyal and Shabir Ahmed, CAO (PHQ), Morar Ji Bhat, AEE (PCD), Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani, DySP (Provision) PHQ, Amit Gupta and other police officers.
