JAMMU, Dec 27: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has empowered the women of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir by introducing various schemes for their welfare. It was really an irony of the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir that the women remained deprived of significant rights for decades.
This was stated by National Executive Member of BJP and former Minister, Priya Sethi while speaking at the Nari Sammelan organized by the J&K Prajapati Sabha on the eve of birthday of Shree-Shree Yade Mataji at Shree Sant Goraji Bhawan, here, today. On the occasion, Yudhvir Sethi, J&K BJP vice president, Anju Dogra State secretary BJP, Savita Anand, Mahila Morcha president, district Jammu and Ayodhya Kumar Manawa, Prajapati Sabha president were also present.
The Sammelan was organised by team of Prajapati Sabha under the presidentship of Ayodhya Kumar.
The former Minister has complemented J&K Prajapati Sabha for organizing Nari Sammelan every year with an objective to make aware the women about various schemes launched by the Centre for betterment and up-liftment of their social status. She lauded J&K Prajapati Sabha for playing a vital role in the society by highlighting several social issues like female foeticide, strengthening of women, removing of backwardness, providing education and removal of domestic harassment to women in the entire society.
The former Minister said the Modi Government has done a lot for the women of Jammu and Kashmir by initiating several schemes like Ujjawala Yojana, Sukanya scheme, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme, One Stop Centre Scheme, Women Helpline Scheme, UJJAWALA, Nari Shakti Puraskar, Tripple Talaq, 33 per cent reservation in politics for women, Mahila Shakti Kendras (MSK), Nirbhaya and a lot more since 2014.
Priya Sethi said that after removing all the bottlenecks in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi led Government’s key priority now is to focus on development. The development which took place in J&K under BJP Government led by PM Narendra Modi is matchless and speaks itself about the remarkable progress which this region has made after BJP took over the rein.
In the programme, children who excelled in studies and sports were honoured on the occasion.
Later, the senior BJP leader along with others felicitated Sunil Prajapati on being appointed as State president BJP OBC Morcha, Jammu Kashmir.
