Kathua, Nov 15: J&K Pradesh Mahila Congress today kick started the first phase of its two-week “Jan Jagran Abhiyan’ campaign, during which party leaders and workers will visit the rural parts of the Union Territory to highlight the rising inflation and target the BJP Government at the Centre.
The Abhiyan was started under the leadership of former MLA and president of J&K Mahila Congress Indu Pawar from Chadwal area here.
Addressing the workers, Indu Pawar said that aim of starting this campaign was to expose anti-poor policies of the BJP Government at the Centre. She regretted that poor are facing hardship due to unprecedented hikes in the prices of essential commodities.
Lambasting the BJP for its policies at the Centre and in J&K she said the Congress party has taken decisions to educate the people about pro-rich policies being pursued by the BJP government that has adversely affected the Indian economy.
From November 14 to 29, Congress workers and leaders will march through villages and towns, speaking to people on the BJP`s policies that resulted in high inflation in the country.
Indu Pawar informed that the motive behind the campaign was to increase awareness amongst the common public about the inflation in the BJP rule. She pointed out that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP Government, the price of LPG cylinders has increased by Rs. 305. Due to the increase in the price of LPG cylinders, 42 percent of people have stopped using LPG for cooking and started using wood, she added.
Those spokes on the occasion were Mahila District President Kathua, Veena Kumari, Saroj, Anjana, Monika, Sakshi and others.
