JAMMU, May 30: POWERGRID Northern Region-II is observing Swachhata Pakhwada from May 16 to 31 with a series of awareness programmes aimed at promoting cleanliness, hygiene and environmental sustainability.
As part of the fortnight-long campaign, the organisation conducted Swachhata pledges, cleanliness drives, signature campaigns, medical camps, awareness sessions and radio campaigns across the region to encourage public participation in maintaining a clean environment.
A major awareness programme was organised at Trikuta Nagar Sabzi Mandi on Friday, featuring a nukkad natak and a campaign against the use of single-use plastic.
More than 600 cotton and jute bags were distributed among vendors and visitors to promote eco-friendly alternatives.
An inter-school painting competition and a “Best Out of Waste” contest were also organised at the POWERGRID Community Centre, drawing participation from 33 students representing around 16 schools from the Jammu division.
The young participants highlighted the importance of cleanliness and environmental protection through their creative works. Winners and participants were felicitated during the event.
Similar activities are being conducted across POWERGRID establishments in the region as part of the Swachhata Pakhwada initiative to spread awareness about cleanliness, health and sustainable living.
