JAMMU, Mar 8: While describing BJP as power hungry, senior PCC leader and former minister Sham Lal Sharma today alleged that BJP leaders were virtually begging before the PDP for the formation of Government in the State.
Addressing a meeting of Block Congress Committee Akhnoor today, Sham Lal described BJP-PDP alliance as a combination of opportunist and power-hungry forces, who exploited the sentiments of the people. He stated that the BJP exploited the sentiments of people of Jammu by various slogans of abrogation of Article 370, rights to PoK West Pakistan refugees, delimitation of constituencies, plots to the border residents, besides promising a Chief Minister from the region.
“The BJP surrendered its all ideological issues and other promises to share power and deceived the electorate. BJP has no sense of responsibility and respect towards the needs and sentiments of people of Jammu as there has been no forward movement by them to end this deadlock,” Mr Sharma said.
The Congress leader further said that there is no supply of sugar for the past around few months while flour and rice is being provided 10 kg per family, against the government scale of 35 kg, per family. The acute shortage of supplies of ration, has exposed the tall claims of the BJP- PDP in this regard. The previous Government has failed in its primary duty to the citizen.
Sham Lal alleged that BJP leaders back stabbed people of Akhnoor on SRO 462. He termed it as a forced acquisition. “This land acquisition is not at all ethical and is the result of a game plan of BJP where not only BJP MLAs, MPs but former cabinet ministers were equally responsible,” he added.
Others who spoke on this occasion included Kuldeep Raj Verma, Ram Swaroop, Subash Langer, Aman Gupta and Madan Lal Gupta.
