CHANDIGARH, Apr 15: Employees of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd and their families from across the country mesmerized the jam packed audience at Inder Danush Auditorium Panchkula with their outstanding performances in the Inter-regional Cultural Meet held today.
Inter-regional Cultural Meet and Handicrafts Exhibition is organized by Power Grid every year in its different Regions on rotation and this year the event was hosted by its Northern Region-II which has the jurisdiction over the States of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana States and UT Chandigarh.
IS Jha, Chairman- cum- Managing Director (CMD), Power Grid, the chief guest on the occasion, inaugurated the cultural meet by lighting the traditional lamp in presence of senior officers of the Corporation, large number of guests, Power Grid employees and families. Earlier, Usha Jha, president Power Grid Shrishti Mahila Samaj inaugurated the handicrafts exhibition in presence of distinguished guests and senior officers of Power Grid and their families.
In his brief address Mr Jha highlighted the achievements of Power Grid and its contribution in nation building. He congratulated the employees and their family members for achieving a distinguished milestone of capitalization of transmission projects worth over Rs 30, 300 crore in 2015-16 with an annual growth of 39%. He also complimented the participating teams for their performances and stressed on the fact that these events are organized by Power Grid as a part of its welfare policy to inculcate among the employees and their families a feeling of togetherness and at the same time appreciate each other’s talent and cultural richness.
Earlier, on the arrival at programme venue, the CMD was welcomed by Anil Jain, Executive Director, NRTS-II, senior officers of Powergrid and large number of employees and their families. Among others who graced the occasion were RT Agarwal, Director (Finance), Ravi P Singh, Director (Personnel) and RP Sasmal, Director (Operations) with additional charge of Director Projects.
At the end winners as well as participants of cultural function were presented trophies and mementos by the chief guest and in Handicrafts Exhibition the participants whose items were selected as the first, second & third were also given away prizes. Anil Jain Executive Director Northern Region-II delivered the welcome address whereas RK Chouhan, Executive Director (Kurukshetra) presented vote of thanks.
