JAMMU, Sept 7: JK Power Employees and Engineers Coordination Committee (JKPEECC) PDD in a meeting at Jammu has extended full support to the call given by JKEEGA for protest leave on September 9 for 24 hours.
The JKPEECC constituents of the PDD which included Provincial Power Employees Union led by Shakti Gupta, Technical Employees Federation, HD Singh, Ashiq Hussain Lineman and Workers Union, Gurmeet Singh J&K Non Gazetted Electrical Employees Union, Akhil Sharma PDL/TDL & Other Workers Union, Provincial Electrical Employees Union, Clerical Association and Drivers Union have vowed their unconditional support to the call of protest leave for 24 hours by JKEEGA on the issue of the inordinate delay in the filling up of the vacant positions across the hierarchy of the department, which has severely dented not only the morale of the officers but also badly affected the delivery of public service and grievance redressal.
The Government has failed to fulfill commitments even after nearly two years, made under the legal framework of the agreement dated 21.12.2021 signed between representatives of the Government and the representatives of the Power employees after 4 days of confrontation.
JKPEECC has decided to support the call for observing one day protest leave decision of JKEEGA on 09.09.2023 and all the employees of PDD shall abstain from work for 24 hours starting midnight of September 8, in order to sensitize the Government over the apathy being faced by PDD engineers and employees.
JKPEECC has appealed the Lieutenant Governor to intervene and direct the competent authority to issue the approvals of the proposals recommended for promotion and regularization of the eligible officers before the said date so that confrontation shall be avoided.
