Poverty worst form of violence: President

NEW DELHI :  Outlining the government’s philosophy of `Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas, President Pranab Mukherjee today said poverty is the worst form of violence.
”The essence of progress lies in bringing a sense of fulfillment to the poor and the deprived, the  marginalised and vulnerable sections of the society. The poorest of the poor are entitled to the first  change on the nation’s resources. Removing the scourge of poverty and destitution is our most scared  moral responsibility,  the President said in his address to the joint sitting of both the Houses of Parliament  as the Budget Session commenced this morning. He said the government was pledged to making this goal possible through the financial inclusion and social security. ”Last year I spoke of ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana’.
Today, I am proud to say that under the  programme 21 crore accounts opened, 15 crore accounts are operational with an aggregate deposit of Rs 32,000 crore,”  he said. (AGENCIES)
