REASI, Sept 14: Pouni today observed complete bandh under the banner of All Parties Joint Action Committee against the shortage of doctors and health facilities in the town.
As the protesters blocked road for more than seven hours, the major sufferers were Shivkhori visiting pilgrims students and employees.  The protestors remained assembled at Main Chowk and blocked the road  till 3 pm.
The protesters were raising slogans against the Health Department and State Govt. They   were demanding Health facilities at the PHC Pouni and other Health Centres of Pouni tehsil.
The protesters alleged that  that 15 MO posts were lying vacant in Pouni tehsil but administration and State Government was turning a blind eye towards the problem. “There was no doctor and medicines available   in the 21st century. It is a human dilemma,” a protester  said.
“Owing to the unavailability of doctors and medical facilities in PHC Pouni when accidents happen in the region, the injured are taken to district hospital in Reasi, which is more than 20 kilometres away,” the local said.  Due to lack of doctors and unavailability of treatment facilities, several patients have lost their lives, protesters added.
The locals withdrew their protest after  the ADC Reasi Shiv Kumar Gupta  assured them to solve their problems within 15 days. He also announced that one doctor will join the PHC Pouni with immediate effect.
The protest was joined by a  number of Sarpanchs,  Panchs and locals from whole Pouni tehsil.
