SRINAGAR, Mar 22: Veteran Gujjar leader Eshfaq-ul-Rehman Poswal, young social activist from Ganderbal Syed Rayees Ahmad and senior political activist Abdul Raheem Wani today joined People’s Democratic Party (PDP) along with their hundreds of supporters
Welcoming Rayees into the party fold, PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said it was an encouraging trend that people from different walks of life are joining the party in good numbers, which is the clear, loud indication of acceptability of the party’s vision, for the political resolution and good governance, among the people.
Mufti said change in the political and governance system is a must to see the people of Jammu and Kashmir out of prevailing distress and hard times they have battled over the last five years and the PDP has evolved as a best alternative before them to rewrite a new history for the State.
The senior party leader and former Finance Minister, Tariq Hameed Karra, senior party leader, Qazi Mohammd Afzal, party chief spokesperson, Naeem Akhtar and youth leader Irfan Naqshbandi were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the party president Mehbooba Mufti while welcoming Abdul Rahim Wani and Eshfaq-ul-Rehman Poswal into the party fold exhorted the hope that their joining into PDP will help in making the party strong at the grass root level and it was equally heartening to see people reposing faith in the democratic system to see end of their sufferings.
Addressing the gathering, Poswal said the ruling Coalition Government has badly failed to mitigate the problems of Gujjars and Bakerwals and instead using them for petty vote a bank politics.
Poswal said NC has ruled the State for most time, but except promises it has done nothing for the welfare of Gujjars and Bakerwals. Poswal, Syed Rayees Ahmad, Abdul Raheem Wani join PDP.
