JAMMU, Oct 25: Prominent Gujjar leader and president of Jammu and Kashmir unit of Akhil Bhartiya Gujjar Masabha, Eshfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal demanded the State and Central Governments to make a comprehensive and long-term policy for areas near the Line of Control (LoC).
Concluding his extensive tour of forward areas of Kupwara district, Poswal told the media persons that the Government infrastructure and manpower in the areas close to the LoC is bare minimum and at some places next to negligible.
“During my tour I covered all nook and corners of Teetwal and Tangdhar blocks of Kupwara district along the LoC and found people in great deal of misery”, Poswal alleged, adding there are either no roads or if any, they are in very poor condition and same is the case with schools, dispensaries and veterinary centers.
The Gujjar leader said that he was deeply concerned about the living conditions in the forward areas along the LoC, as these areas were inhabited by majority of Gujjars, who are living in constant fear due to their proximity to LoC.
Poswal urged the State Government to devise a separate budget for inhabitants of these areas so that focused attention could be given to these people.
