Poppy straw seized from truck, smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, Nov 8: Udhampur Police today recovered 27 kg of contraband poppy straw from a Punjab bound truck at Jakhani naka on the National Highway Udhampur.
The truck bearing registration number PB08EQ- 8089, was intercepted by a Police team from Police Station Udhampur at Jakhani Chowk. During search, 27 kg of poppy straw, packed in three plastic bags, was recovered from the truck.
Police arrested driver of the truck, identified as Sukhdev Singh, son of Surat Singh of Kapurthala, Punjab and his associate Harpreet Singh, son of Baldev Singh of Kapurthala, Punjab.
In this regard, a case FIR number 465/2022, under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered in PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
The naka party was headed by SHO PS Udhampur Inspector Raghubir Singh under the supervision of Addl. SP Udhampur Anwaar Ul Haq and DySP Hqrs Udhampur Sahil Mahajan.
