Srinagar, May 24: Police along with the officers from the Revenue and Excise Department today destroyed poppy cultivation in the village Aligund of south Kashmir’s Awantipora.
A Police party from Police Station Awantipora headed by SHO Awantipora along with officers from Revenue and Excise departments destroyed poppy cultivation spread over more than 05 kanals of land in village Aligund area of Awantipora.
Police said that the general public of the area have appreciated the action of police and have urged to continue such drive in nearby areas also.
“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding the cultivation of contrabands in their neighbourhood,” police said, adding that Persons found indulging in drug peddling & cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt with as per law.
