Poppy cultivation destroyed in Valley

Srinagar, May 11: Police along with officials of Revenue and Excise Department have destroyed poppy cultivation over 130 Kanals of land in Kashmir valley.
A police spokesman said in Pulwama district the drive was carried at Sherabad (Bulli) and adjacent areas of Tral in which poppy cultivation spread over 13 kanals of land was destroyed.
He said the drive was also carried out at Dangerpora and Checki Dangerpora areas of Pulwama district. “During the drive, poppy cultivation spread over 62 Kanals of land was destroyed,” the spokesman said.
The spokesman said that the poppy cultivation spread over 58 kanals of land was destroyed at village Bun Kulbugh, Kulgugh and adjacent areas in Budgam district. “The drive against the contraband cultivation will continue in future also,” he added.
