REASI, April 26: Reasi police today destroyed Poppy crop cultivated illegally in 10 marlas of land in Dhamankote Salal area.
On a tip off that one person namely Gandarbh Singh son of Vikram Singh of Dhamankote Salal has illegally cultivated Poppy crop in his fields, a team of Police Station Reasi led by Deputy SP Headquarters Reasi along with Tehsildar (Executive Magistrate) Reasi and Agriculture Extension Assistant of Agriculture Department reached on the spot.
The team harvested the Illegal crop that came to be one Quintal and four Kilograms in weight. Two samples were seized out of this illegally cultivated crop and sealed on spot for sending to the Forensic Science Laboratory for expert opinion. After seeking magisterial orders on spot, nearly mature banned cultivation was destroyed in the presence of the Executive Magistrate.
The accused was also arrested and a case FIR number 80/2021 under Section 8/18 NDPS Act stands registered in this connection at police station Reasi.
