Poonch social worker receives National Youth Icon Award

JAMMU, Oct 5: Resident of village Sangla of Surankote, Poonch, Muzaffar Ahmed was conferred the prestigious National Youth Icon Award-2019 by the International Youth Committee during the World Youth Summit-2019 at New Delhi.
Muzaffar is the founder of ‘Public Peace and Development Foundation’-an organization working for the health and education of conflict affected children and youth at the Line of Control in Rajouri and Poonch.
Previously, Muzaffar worked as ‘National Youth Volunteer’ in Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
During World Youth Summit-2019, Breshna Musazai from Afghanistan won the title ‘World Young Person of the Year-2019’, a trophy and top cash prize of Rs. one lakh.
A handout stated that National Youth Icon Award is the highest youth award in India and South Asia for excellence in youth-led developmental work to highlight the contribution they are making towards developing a fairer, sustainable, peaceful and prosperous future for their nation and generations to come.
